Denis Zakaria will be leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach next summer at the latest. The 25-year-old Genevan has communicated to the German club that he will not extend his contract which expires in six months.
Mönchengladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl had demanded to be fixed before the end of the year on the intentions of the players whose contracts were due to expire. After learning about Zakaria’s decision, Eberl was quoted on the club’s website. “I contacted her agency already before Christmas and I informed her that we will make our plans without him no later than next summer.“.
A departure in January?
To make the transfer profitable, Mönchengladbach should sell the Swiss international (40 caps) in January. The value of the midfielder, who came from Young Boys in 2017, is estimated at 30 million euros.
