Created in 1997, the Raid 4L Trophy allows young people aged 18 to 28 to join the France in Marrakech, in Renault 4L, with a humanitarian vocation. The crew Clever redhead will leave on February 17, supported by the Bruyères association, parent company of the residence Virginie Danion de Mauron (Morbihan).
“It was during a meeting at Mauron’s residence that I mentioned this project to our president Sylvain Merino and the general manager of the Bruyères Association“, Remembers Marie-France, sister of Vincent Charpentier, one of the pilots who will attack the 4L Trophy in 2022.“ Why not? They answered without hesitation ”and that’s how the adventure began in Mauron.
The Rouquin Malin crew
Vincent Charpentier and Romain Bellier, the two pilots have been friends for a long time.
“We are used to sharing various trips and experiences, as well as a taste for adventure. We created the crew and the Rouquin Malin association, a jovial name which evokes simple pleasures but which gives a legal framework to our action. “
The association intends to collect school and sports supplies, as well as foodstuffs that will be donated to the 4L Trophy association, Children of the Desert who will distribute them on site.
Challenges to take up
It is Romain Bellier, commercial, who first launched the idea.
“It’s a human adventure with surpassing oneself and mobilizing behind common ideas, and that’s all that convinced me”.
For Vincent Charpentier, maintenance technician, “it’s my thirst for adventure and thesporting and human experience that decided me. I immediately accepted ”. The raid is based on three challenges: humanitarian for the benefit of the local populations, sportsman to cover the 6000 km of the journey and human with 1,500 teams of young people who very often find themselves helping each other in case of problems.
“The budget per crew is around € 10,000 which include the car and its preparation, the registration fees which include the transport, the bivouac, the food and the assistance and various expenses ”, underlines Vincent Charpentier. Among the sponsors, les Bruyères Association therefore, whose logo will accompany the crew to Marrakech and also the return to France.
The event will take place from February 17 to 27, 2022, with a departure from Biarritz. The director of the Virginie Danion residence, Sylvie Saulnier, intends to set up with the help of Pierre Chevalier the host of the residence, a way for residents to follow the event live and in particular the Rouquin Malin crew. The crossing of Spain will be followed and the epic on the Moroccan tracks will transmit the heat of the sands on video for a change of scenery.
