Announced in June 2021, actor Dwayne Johnson will star in “Red One”, an action film broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, for Christmas. The actor will be alongside another star who is none other than Chris Evans, as announced DeadlineMonday, January 24, 2022.
Are the platforms becoming more and more demanding in terms of casting? If Netflix pays for headliners like Leonardo DiCaprio in “Don’t Look Up” or even Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in “Red Notice”, it’s around Amazon Prime Video to join the same line. Indeed, for her next film: “Red One”, the platform has set its sights on the ‘Jumanji’ star, who this time around will star alongside Chris Evans, known for starring in ‘Captain America’.
Red One: a release scheduled for Christmas 2023
Directed by Jake Kasdan (“Jumanji”) and scripted by Chris Morgan (“Fast & Furious”), “Red One” whose synopsis remains well guarded, is described as an action and adventure comedy in a universe reminiscent of the end of year celebrations. For the moment, no release date has been revealed, but it should enter production in 2022, for a release at the end of 2023. This leaves time to see the cast grow over the months. To wait a bit, fans will be able to find Dwayne Johnson in the costume of “Black Adam”, expected in French theaters from July 27th. As for Chris Evans, he seems to have a busy schedule! The comedian who joined the cast of the film “At Knives Out” by Rian Johnson and that of the series “Defending Jacob” from Apple TV+; will also be in the Netflix thriller “The Gray Man” by the Russo brothers and will lend his voice to the animated film “Buzz Lightyear”.
