These Bretons are crazy to take the whole family on a boat to live there all year round. We are live from the West Indies, in the Caribbean Sea, with this family of Bretons and their young children. The Gahinet family from Lorient shares their daily life in a wonderful podcast called ZaïZaï.
In this interview, hear Gwenolé Gahinet live. As a reminder, he is one of the fastest sailors in the world since he was in Francis Joyon’s crew during the 2016 Jules Verne Trophy. He has a great track record like that, but it’s now another model of life that he’s developing as a family. This adventure is called ZaïZaï, a cruising catamaran.

They need space to house this Breton family of four. Gwenolé and Anne-Laure share the tasks every other day, as the interview specifies.
Among the activities to ensure income for the family, Gwénolé provides support services for races, including the Mini-Transat in particular. Preparing the weather and briefings are also naturally within his reach for the offshore racers who request him. For her part, Anne-Laure, founder of the Coloc in Lorient, remains an entrepreneur. She continues her development in video creation.
The boat is an investment and requires daily maintenance work. The Gahinet on ZaïZaï is a family business. The view from their office is not the most unpleasant.
In children. The contrast is strong. After a year and a half of intense preparation, the pace is finally easier once at sea. They appreciate being able to finally follow the children’s progress serenely. They discover the sea, navigation. The girls are 4 and a half and 3 years old respectively.
Immediately after this live radio interview, they intended to head north towards Martinique.
Personally, I loved discovering their Podcast ZaïZaï. Do you want to escape? Offer their podcast to your ears.
