While Lake Devesset hosted Raid in France in 2017, a short format will be offered from April 1 to 3 at Lake Lavalette.
The French leg of the European Adventure Races Cup, this event is aimed at teams wishing to learn about the Raid in France spirit or to prepare for this world-class event. “Our desire is to open up to a greater number of teams thanks to a short and affordable format, both in financial terms and in terms of equipment or time”, indicates Pascal Bahuaud, race director.
In addition to Raid in France Savoie-Mont-Blanc, scheduled for the end of June as part of the Adventure Racing World Cup, Pascal Bahuaud is launching Rif Spirit, a mini format that will have everything big.
151 km and an altitude difference of 3200 m
Rif Spirit is the “back to nature” spirit of Raid in France in just 24 hours of racing: non-stop progression day and night, sequence of disciplines in orientation, discovery of the route live, unique route of 120 to 150 km approximately, mixed team of 4 runners… The activities concern 79 km of mountain biking, 39 km of trek and 33 km of kayak. That is a total of 151 km and an elevation gain of 3200 m.
The first will do it in 18 to 20 hours, and the last in 28 hours maximum. Up to 75 teams are expected. More than 50 were already registered at the beginning of February.
The Adventure Racing European Series circuit will have 6 stages (Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Estonia and France), qualifying for the final, in Spain in October. Rif Spirit will open the ball from Lac de Lavalette.
