Pêche Aventure Saguenay acquires Pêche blanche du Fjord

SAGUENAY – Pêche Aventure Saguenay de La Baie has just acquired Pêche Blanche du Fjord, which specializes in ice fishing. The company thus goes from 16 to 46 rental fishing cabins in the ice village of the Grande-Baie sector.

The acquisition, the exact amount of which cannot be disclosed, required several thousand dollars. It allows the company to position itself as the largest rental of fishing cabins on the Fjord, while it becomes the only company to rent in the Grande-Baie sector.

For this season, the owner, Mélanie Davis-Lavoie, and her spouse, Sandra Paré, have not planned to make many changes, since the transaction took place in December. “It’s a big management challenge, a good fit. The enthusiasm is really there,” says the entrepreneur.

The addition of new cabins allows Pêche Aventure Saguenay to offer two categories, Standard and Luxury. “What sets us apart is that we offer the luxury cabins in which you can spend the night, which have toilets inside. We will now have an offer for different budgets and needs,” says Ms. Davis-Lavoie.

This year, the Accomodation des 21 is pursuing reservations for cabins purchased from Pêche Blanche du Fjord, i.e. the Standard category. Reservations will be grouped under Pêche Aventure Saguenay next year. Two new employees should be added to the team, which currently includes the owner and his spouse.

Transformations

However, the couple has several projects for next year. “We changed the lures for a model designed specifically for the Saguenay Fjord made by the regional company Les Leurres Opémisca. […] We want to change oil heaters to propane systems which are less polluting. We also plan to transform seven large cabins into those we have just acquired so that people can sleep in them. We have already made a prototype this year. We want to give them a country touch,” says Mélanie Davis-Lavoie, adding that this latest project would require investments of more than $60,000.

In addition to renting cabins, the baieriveraine company also rents heated portable tents, ready to fish. “All our rentals come with heating, equipment, the accompaniment of a guide and explanations on groundfish fishing. We really focus on customer service,” concludes the owner.
