Kristaps Porzingis sets main goal for new DC adventure

Transferred to the Wizards when we weren’t really expecting it, after a very disappointing move to the Mavericks, Kristaps Porzingis enjoys a fresh start in the capital. He spoke yesterday about his goals. The first is to finally be in good health, he who has been constantly hampered by injuries in recent seasons.

“The first is to stay on the pitch consistently. Now that I’m healthy and moving well, that’s what I have to prove. I really think I haven’t been very lucky in terms of injuries. Many, if not all, of them have been contact injuries. These are injuries that cannot really be avoided. I do my part by being in the weight room, making sure my body is healthy. But you have to be a little lucky,” explained Porzingis.

Since his knee injury in the 2017-18 season, he has only played 2/3 of the games, facing multiple glitches. This season he has played 34 of 55 games. He is optimistic for the future and for availability.

“I’m going to take my game to the next level because my body is going to be healthy, that’s all,” he said.

Regarding the collective objectives in a team in distress, which lost Bradley Beal and who made a lot of changes at the deadline is to grab a place in play-in.

“The first objective, I would say, is to at least make the play-in and play for a chance to make the playoffs. I’m excited about this and I’m excited for my next chapter as a member of this organization and this team,” Porzingis said.

He hopes to be able to contribute to this qualification, with a role perhaps more important than in Dallas, but he will have to show that he deserves it.
