end of the adventure for Amiens SC

Yet so dominating in the first period, the U19s of Amiens SC lived through ten nightmarish minutes in the second act, conceding three goals. The journey of young Amiens in the Gambardella Cup therefore ends in the round of 16.

Amiens unchallenged domination

The start of the match is ideal for the Amiens. A strike from Dupays will send shivers down the spine of the thousand spectators present at La Licorne, unfortunately too crossed to worry Gouet, the Corsican goalkeeper (6′). It’s only a postponement, since two minutes later, this same Gouet will bow to Mathis Touho. The left striker takes advantage of a missed outing by the goalkeeper to shoot in first intention, despite the complicated angle. The strike is perfectly placed, and Amiens open the scoring (1-0, 8′). The ASC prints its rhythm of hell and does not leave anything to its adversary of the day. Oli Oro is very close to doubling the bet with a curling shot from the left, but Gouet pushes back as best he can (25′).

Shortly after, it was Dupays’ turn to thrill the Unicorn. The strike from the left of the defensive midfielder is overpowering, but goes just wide (30′). The Ajacciennes response was slow but arrived before the break with the shot from Chegra, well stopped by Kayaya (37′). The ASC will drop another 2-0 ball at the very end of the period. Dupay eliminates two defenders on his oriented control before being mowed down in the area, the penalty spot is immediately signaled by the referee of the day. Dariminy rushes, but his shot misses (45 + 1 ‘). The players return to the locker room, surrounding the young Dariminy to comfort him.

The Corsican awakening

Amiens domination resumes as soon as the locker room returns. Wessner stumbles on Gouet following a poorly cleared corner by the Corsican defense (48′). While they had just got a big chance on a free kick, the Amiens will get into trouble on their own. Chegra is tackled in the area by Tutuana, the referee designates the penalty spot. Owen Martinez turns him with a mighty flat foot (1-1, 60′). Amiens took a blow to the head, and will take a second step long after. On a corner played quickly, the Corsicans will surprise the Amiens defense. Owen Martinezagain he, strikes with force from the right, Kayaya can only slow down the course of the ball in his net (1-2, 68′).

Two minutes later, the Ajacciens will take a little more shelter, following a bad defensive withdrawal. Chegra sees his shot blocked by Kayaya, but Dorian Gustave follows well at the penalty spot and allows his team to make the break (1-3, 70′). Time flies, until the long-awaited score reduction. Touho fixes the defense and crosses strong in front of the goal to Aurelien Digbeu which puts Amiens back in the game a few seconds before the final whistle (2-3, 88′). After the extra time, George Ilenikhena will snatch the equalizer by taking over a ball that was dragging in the area (3-3, 90+4′) !

During the penalty shootout, Mathis Touho will be the only player to miss his penalty, his shot failing on the right upright of Gouet. The Corsicans qualify, at the end of the end, five shots on goal to three.
