24 Heures Motos – The Full Gas Racing Team continues its adventure with K

Last year, the Full Gas Racing Team innovated by equipping its machine with tires from the Chinese manufacturer Kingtyre. The #116 Kawasaki ZX-10R placed 27th overall and 17th in the Superstock class. Challenge met for this team based about thirty kilometers from the Bugatti circuit. “This atypical side has us much more”, explains Philippe Patault, team manager and former driver of the team. We even managed to score four points in the FIM EWC Endurance World Championship. We have stored a lot of data. It is therefore a positive result”. Since these rubbers have a good margin for improvement, the Kingtyre Full Gas Racing Team wants to put the cover back on the occasion of the 45th edition of the 24 Heures Motos (April 16-17, 2022). With the difference that the Kawasaki #116 will have to be entered in the Formula EWC category since Dunlop becomes the exclusive supplier in Superstock. “We provided our data to Kingtyre engineers who were very responsive. On paper, we will have more efficient tyres. They will be softer in the front and harder in the back,” says Philippe Patault.

Team members are currently working hard to adapt the #116 Kawasaki to the Formula EWC class regulations. Thus, the motorcycle will be equipped with a quick wheel change system. The pilots are already known. Arnaud Déjean, Christophe Brard and Dorian Da-Ré are designated to place the machine in the top 20 of the general classification. “We are happy that Arnaud is going back with us, because he knows the tyres. Christophe has a lot of endurance experience. Dorian will likely be the fastest of the three. They form a friendly crew as we want. They will not have any particular pressure”.

The Kingtyre Full Gas Racing Team, which is approaching its eighth 24 Heures Motos, will participate in one of the two days of pre-Mans testing. These non-mandatory free practices will take place on the Bugatti circuit on March 29 and 30.

Last year, Kawasaki #116 was one of the curiosities of the 44th edition of the 24 Heures Motos. Indeed, this team from Sarthe had fitted its machine with tires from the Chinese manufacturer Kingtyre. For 2022, it is aiming for an eighth participation in the Le Mans classic in order to continue the development of these tires.
