End of the adventure for Marmelade Alsace

It’s over for Marmelade Alsace. The Strasbourg court ordered its liquidation on March 21, 2022. Since 2018, the company offered home delivery by bike of local products. “During the first three years, there was great enthusiasm around short circuits, we even hired seven people. But since the summer of 2021, we have had a big drop in demand”regrets the founder of Marmelade Alsace, Quentin Seyeux. “It is partly linked to the deconfinement, everyone has returned to the market, and there is more and more competition. We have not managed to find more customers despite the opening of our shop on Place de la Cathédrale.”

Declining demand for local products

Overall, according to Quentin Seyeux, local products work less, producers are also recording a drop in activity: “minus 30% for everyone. Customers have budgetary constraints and are once again turning to mass distribution.”

Now, Quentin Seyeux will look for a job “if possible in the field of e-commerce. I haven’t had a salary for 4 years, it’s time for me to earn a living.”
