Fantastic Beasts 3: The adventure dedicated to Dumbledore at the center of the debates

news culture Fantastic Beasts 3: The adventure dedicated to Dumbledore at the center of the debates

While fans are impatiently awaiting the release of Fantastic Beasts 3 in cinemas, the first feedback has fallen…And what we can say is that the title is far from unanimous.

An adventure that lacks magic?

Since the launch of a first film in 2016 which won over a large number of viewers, the Fantastic Beasts saga, a prequel to the adventures of Harry Potter, has struggled to convince. If the first opus obtained the score of 66 on Metacritic, with a total of 33 positive feedback from the press on a total of 50 reviews, the second chapter, namely Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, was less adored by the crowds. Out of a total of 48 reviews, the film’s metascore is 52 for only 17 positive reviews. Despite this less enticing second proposition, we hoped that Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets would raise the bar, but it seems that is not the case.

Once again, if we linger on the side of Metacritic, we can see that the first returns are not very flattering; worse, the film by David Yates, is currently doing less well than the two previous cinematographic productions. At the time of writing these lines, 21 lucky ones have already been able to see the film and give their opinion, but only 3 of them have given positive feedback. The Metacritic rating for Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets is so far below average: the film only has a score of 47 out of 100. Polygon roundly criticizes the film for not having an identity, when The Telegraph says that “many sequences do not meet the needs of the plot”. In other words, Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets stretches unnecessarily long.

A 5-star cast and an imminent release

If you keep hope and want to make up your own mind, note that Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets will soon arrive in French cinemas. In effect, the feature film of more than two hours will be available from April 13, 2022 in our regions.

As its name suggests, the title will focus its plot on Albus Dumbledore, the professor at the head of Hogwarts here played by Jude Law, who forges links with Grindelwald, the great villain of the trilogy embodied on screen by the talented Mads Mikkelsen. Note of course that Newt Scamander, the hero of the first chapters will also be back and will once again be played by Eddie Redmayne.
